One of my favorite sayings is:

“Today is the first day of the rest of your life!”

meaning of course that today we begin our life all over again. And we can do so every morning. We can begin every morning with a day with no mistakes in it—so far at least. Every day will not be perfect, but we can determine to make it a day of adventure and achievement, a day to live and enjoy. Or we can determine to simply survive another boring and unproductive day.

Even Jesus in Matthew 7:11 taught us to pray each day for the things we need when he said, “Give us this day, our daily bread.” Then in verse 34 he tells us in his Sermon on the Mount, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” So to simply live one day at a time is something that Jesus taught also.

Paul gives us words of comfort in 2nd Corinthians 4:16 when he wrote, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”

So let’s take comfort knowing that God is taking care of our physical and spiritual needs today, and if he blesses us with another day, he will take care of those needs also. Just something to think about!

In many cultures, life is centered around food. Very few people in the western world would go for more than 10 or 12 hours without food or drink. Besides the fact that food is built into culture, doing so would make one very hungry.

Many people wouldn't dare going physically hungry; yet they starve themselves spiritually. If you ate food only once a week, you'd certainly die of starvation and malnutrition. Yet countless Christians do exactly that in their spiritual lives.

It is no wonder that Jesus called himself the bread of life (John 6:35). In order to grow spiritually, you must feed on spiritual food -- God's word.

Have the attitude found in Isaiah 26:8: Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. Make it your desire to know God better.

When you regularly spend time with God -- praying, seeking him, and studying his word -- you will thrive spiritually. Take some advice from the psalmist: Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always (Psalm 105:4).

Make time with God a priority in your live. If you made being well fed spiritually as important as be well fed physically, your relationship with God would thrive.

John 6:28-29
Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

Isn't it interesting that Jesus responds to a cry for action with a statement of belief? The disciples want to do stuff and Jesus tells them to believe. We are so interested in trying to get God’s attention by our religious activity. But Jesus is telling his followers that if they believe in Him they already HAVE God’s attention! This takes away the frenzied efforts to please God. It brings us to the shepherd who leads us to the works that HE has for us. The works of God that come out of relationship will be far greater, fulfilling and fruitful than the flurry of activity that we create to in order to appease our lack of belief.

Behind everything you do, there's a thought! So if you're serious about changing your life, you must change how you think. That's not easy, and it doesn't happen instantly. Picture yourself in a boat with the automatic pilot set to go in a certain direction, then you suddenly decide to go somewhere else. First option: willpower. Grab the wheel and force it to go where you want; by sheer willpower, overcome the autopilot. But you'll feel constant resistance. Your arms will get tired, and when you let go of the wheel, guess what? The boat will go the way it's programmed to go. Get the idea? That's what happens when you try to change your life through willpower alone: 'I'll force myself to quit drinking, cheating, or overeating', and so on. Your willpower can only produce short-term change, but it creates constant stress because you haven't dealt with the root cause and reprogrammed your mind. The change doesn't feel natural so eventually you give up, revert to your old patterns and say, 'I guess this is just the way I am. I'll never change.' Second option: God's power. There is a better way! The Bible says, '...Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.' Change always begins in your mind! The way you think determines the way you feel, and the way you feel determines the way you act. You say, 'How can I change the way I think?' By programming your mind each day with God's Word. 'How can a...man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.' (Psalm 119:9 NKJV

Short Inspirational Story

As I See It
One day a wealthy family man took his son on a trip to the country so he could have his son see how poor country people were, and could appreciate what they, themselves, had. They stayed one day and one night in the farm of a very humble farm house. At the end of the trip and back home the father asked the son: "What did you think of the trip?"
The son replied: "Very nice Dad."
Father: "Did you noticed how poor they were?"
Son: "Yes."
Father: "What did you learn?"
Son: "I learned that we have one dog in the house...and they have four. We have a fountain in the garden and they have a stream that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden, they have the stars. Our garden goes to the edge of our property, they have the entire horizon as their backyard."
At the end of the son's reply the father was speechless and his son added: "Thank you dad for showing me how poor we really are."

Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many."

Taught during the last week of His life, Jesus was giving His followers some strong boundaries so that they would not fall away after He was gone. Here he talks of people who say that they are the Christ (“anointed one”). Notice the word that Jesus uses - deceive. To be deceived is to not know the difference between the truth and a falsehood - they both look the same. In a time when many are saying, “I am God’s anointed now.”, Jesus explicitly tells us that God’s anointed One is found in only one place - Jesus the Christ. Jesus is God’s final statement to humanity.

Hello my friends

Hello my friends,
This is just a little note, with a big Thank You to all of you that have viewed my blog.
I am not really very good at all about writing about myself, I lead a very simple but busy life. I am committed to my work, love my family and friends, enjoy my own time to rest and catch up on all the household chores, and time to enjoy my photography (I have just brought my first SLR camera), I need to update the pc, but that will be a later project! :-)
I feel truly blessed since I have found God, I had been searching for so long, and now I feel so renewed... I still struggle with everyday emotions and challengers, but reading His word, going to church, and having fellowship with other Christians is the best thing ever!!
I hope the scripture passages, quotes, and inspirational stories inspire you! God loves YOU, all you have to do is ask, and He will be there for you!

Too often, we fall into the trap of trusting God to give us more things—a new car, a bigger house, a better computer. We turn God into little more than a supernatural Santa Claus, who gives us what we want.

Although God does want his people to prosper and be blessed, it is much more important to him that you entrust him with your life.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Trusting God is simply having faith in him—that he is who he says he is. In tough circumstances, trusting God means believing his promises, that he will work all things out for good. Trusting God does not mean trusting that he'll send Santa to give you what you want.

Especially during difficult times, putting your faith and trust in God brings rewards. Isaiah 26:3 says, You [God] will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Perfect peace is available if you're willing to trust God in the midst of challenging times.
