Matthew 1:20-21

“But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Today Is The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life....

We can begin every morning with a day with no mistakes in it—so far at least. Every day will not be perfect, but we can determine to make it a day of adventure and achievement, a day to live and enjoy. Or we can determine to simply survive another boring and unproductive day.

Even Jesus in Matthew 7:11 taught us to pray each day for the things we need when he said, “Give us this day, our daily bread.” Then in verse 34 he tells us in his Sermon on the Mount, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” So to simply live one day at a time is something that Jesus taught also.

Paul gives us words of comfort in 2nd Corinthians 4:16 when he wrote, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”

So let’s take comfort knowing that God is taking care of our physical and spiritual needs today, and if he blesses us with another day, he will take care of those needs also.

Just something to think about!

Blble Verse Today

John 13:34-35

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Christmas

Hello friends,
Thinking of you all during this Christmas season,
and as we busy ourselves with shopping and gift buying,
I felt prompted to keep reminding all of us  to remember the true meaning
of Christmas.
Have a happy week,
Kerry :-)

LUKE 1:30-33
30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

Reach for your Star

Reach for your Star

Do not take anything as being forever
because forever is only as long as today.

Know that the people who are richest
are not those who have the most,
but those who need the least.
We are at our strongest
when life is at its worst,
and at our weakest
when life no longer offers a challenge.

It is wiser not to expect but to hope,
for in expecting you ask for disappointment,
whereas in hoping you invite surprise.

Unhappiness doesn't come
from not having something that you want,
but from the lack of something inside that you need.

There are things to hold on too,
and things to let go,
and letting go doesn't mean you lose,
but that you acquire that which has been waiting
around the corner.

Most of all,
remember to use your dreams
as a way of knowing yourself better,
and as inspiration
to reach for your star.......

A Quote for Today

“If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal - that is your success.”
Henry David Thoreau

Thought for Today

“Love is hard to believe, ask any lover.
Life is hard to believe, ask any scientist.
God is hard to believe, ask any believer.
What is your problem with hard to believe?”

Quote for Today

The great lesson is that the sacred is in the ordinary,
that it is to be found in one's daily life,
in one's neighbours, friends,
and family, in one's backyard.

Quote for Today

“As long as you keep a person down, some part of you has to be down there to hold him down, so it means you cannot soar as you otherwise might.”

----- The Window from which we look

A young couple moves into a new neighbourhood.
The next morning while they are eating breakfast,
The young woman sees her neighbour hanging the

Wash outside.
"That laundry is not very clean", she said.
"She doesn't know how to wash correctly.
Perhaps she needs better laundry soap."

Her husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbour would hang her wash to dry,
The young woman would make the same comments.

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a
Nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband:

"Look, she has learned how to wash correctly.
I wonder who taught her this."

The husband said, "I got up early this morning and
Cleaned our windows."

And so it is with life. What we see when watching others
Depends on the purity of the window through which we look!

Tasting Life

Tasting Life

Anthony De Mello 1931-1987

Before the young man began his studies, he wanted assurance from the Master.

"Can you teach me the goal of human life?"

"I cannot," replied the Master.

"Or at least its meaning?"

"I cannot."

"Can you indicate to me the nature of death and of life beyond the grave?"

"I cannot."

The young man walked away in scorn. The disciples were dismayed that their Master had been shown up in a poor light.

Said the Master soothingly, "Of what is it to comprehend life's nature and life's meaning if you have never tasted it? I'd rather you ate your pudding than speculated on it."

Show me your hands.
Do they have scars from giving?
 Show me your feet.
Are they wounded in service?
 Show me your heart.
Have you left a place for divine love?

Strength and Courage

Strength and Courage

It takes strength to be certain,
It takes courage to have doubts.

It takes strength to fit in,
It takes courage to stand out.

It takes strength to share a friend's pain,
It takes courage to feel your own pain.

It takes strength to hide your own pain,
It takes courage to show it and deal with it.

It takes strength to stand guard,
It takes courage to let down your guard.

It takes strength to conquer,
It takes courage to surrender.

It takes strength to endure abuses,
It takes courage to stop them.

It takes strength to stand alone,
It takes courage to lean on a friend.

It takes strength to love,
It takes courage to be loved.

It takes strength to survive,
It takes courage to live.

May you find strength and courage
in everything you do,
And may your life be filled with
Friendship and Love!

A WORLD OF DREAMS
Lean against a tree,
And dream your world of dreams.
Work hard at what you like to do,
And try to overcome all obstacles.
Laugh at your mistakes,
And praise yourself for learning from them.
Pick some flowers,
And appreciate the beauty of nature.
Say hello to strangers,
And enjoy the people you know.
Don't be afraid to show your emotions,
Laughing and crying makes you feel better.
Love your friends and family
with your entire being,
They are the most important part of your life.
Feel the calmness on a quiet sunny day,
Find a rainbow and live your world of dreams.
Always remember life is better than it seems.

As I See It

As I See It

One day a wealthy family man took his son on a trip to the country so he could have his son see how poor country people were, and could appreciate what they, themselves, had. They stayed one day and one night in the farm of a very humble farm house. At the end of the trip and back home the father asked the son: "What did you think of the trip?"

The son replied: "Very nice Dad."

Father: "Did you noticed how poor they were?"

Son: "Yes."

Father: "What did you learn?"

Son: "I learned that we have one dog in the house...and they have four. We have a fountain in the garden and they have a stream that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden, they have the stars. Our garden goes to the edge of our property, they have the entire horizon as their backyard."
At the end of the son's reply the father was speechless and his son added: "Thank you dad for showing me how poor we really are."

Not Perfect

NOT PERFECT

By: Joseph J. Mazzella

I was looking out on the woods that surround my house today as I walked through the melting snow. It seemed so strange to see how the trees looked in the middle of winter. Their black, gray, and brown trunks were twisted, wet, and gnarled. They were full of chipped bark and dead limbs. They seemed almost ugly and as far from perfect as you could get. Still, I knew that in just a few months they would be alive again with bright, green leaves and in a few months after that they would be full of beautiful colors that would delight the heart and uplift the soul.

Thinking about this made me smile and reminded me that you don’t have to be perfect in order to live a blessed life. God knows that I am far from perfect myself. I make mistakes every single day of my life. I am still a gnarled, empty, tree trunk much of the time. I do try, however, moment by moment and choice by choice to live a good life. I do try each day to choose and to share love and joy. I do try to grow in oneness with God more and more as I travel the path of life. I think, in fact, one of the best moments in my life was the moment that I decided to stop trying to be perfect and to just live in love and joy while sharing all the gifts that God gave me.

We all need to stop trying to be perfect. We all need to stop judging ourselves and just love ourselves. We all need to give up on living a perfect life and enjoy living a good and beautiful life. Anne Frank wrote, "Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don’t know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is! Let us all live the good news within us then. Let us all grow some bright, green leaves of love in our lives. Let us all share the beautiful colors of peace and joy from our hearts and souls with everyone everywhere. We might not be perfect, but we can still bless the world with the best within us and with the gifts God gives us.
