A Verse For Today

Ephesians 6:12-13
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but... against the spiritual forces of evil... Therefore put on the full armour of God,” .

Hello friends,
I chose today's verse because of a few 'struggles' in my life the past few days, and I must admit to feeling a little overcome with emotion! I prayed to God for guidance and sure enough, today I was very blessed with the people I spoke to, and a good Samaritan who came to my rescue when I needed help!
We must always remember to put on our armour of God, He is an awsome God!!
God Bless you today my friends,
Kerry :-)

DREAM CATCHERS
By: Joseph J. Mazzella

On the wall above my bed there are two very beautiful dream catchers that my wife bought. They are red and brown willow hoops decorated with feathers, horse hair, and beads. They have a wonderfully delicate, spider web design in the middle of them. At the very centre of the web in the very middle of the dream catcher there is a round hole. The Native American Lakota Tribe believes that the dream catchers represent the web of life. Their people believe that hanging them above your bed or in your house will sift your dreams and visions. The good in your dreams will be caught in the web and carried with you, but the evil in your dreams will pass through the hole and no longer be a part of your life.
I enjoy looking at these lovely dream catchers, because they always remind me of what I want to do in my own life. I want to catch only the good within myself. I want to capture only the highest, wisest, best, most loving, most giving, and most joyous part of myself and let the rest fade away. I want to become the person that God meant for me to be and live the way that God meant for me to live. I want to become a wonderful part of the web of life and share only love and joy with others and the world.
The glorious truth is that you, I, and everyone else in this world can do this too. God loves us all so much and God gives us the strength and ability to become our highest selves. We can choose to be the person God meant for us to be. We can fill ourselves with love, joy, and light and then share them with the world. We can capture the angel within and allow the worst parts of ourselves to fade away. We can live as a true Child of God sending smiles, giving love, offering joy, scattering sunshine, and creating laughter wherever we go. We can catch the dream of the person we always wanted to be and make it a reality.

Verse for Today

Matthew 16:15

““But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.””

Norway

I pray for the people of Norway..... Let us ask God to extend his hand of protection to the victims, and his hand of strength to police and rescue personnel.

My deepest condolence to all the people of Norway. May God give you strength to rise from all the grieve and sorrow.

Psalm 46:1-3,7
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.

The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

The Reason For The World

Hello friends!

I found this song on youtube today, and just love it!

It is such a wet, rainy, bleak day here in Sydney, and I am home from work with a back problem, a pinched nerve, ouch!! I've had a CT scan this morning, so will know more next week.

I hope if anyone is feeling any sort of pain today, please know you are in my prayers!

God Bless,

Kerry :-)

Verse for Today

Proverbs 2:1-5

My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

Fable

Fable of the Porcupine

It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals died because of the cold.
The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep
warm. This way they covered and protected themselves; but
quills of each one wounded their closest companions.
After awhile, they decided to distance themselves one
from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen. So
they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their

companions or disappear from the Earth. Wisely, they decided
to go back to being together. They learned to live with the
little wounds caused by the close relationship with their

companions in order to receive the heat that came from the
others. This way they were able to survive.

The best relationship is not the one that brings
together perfect people, but when each individual learns to
live with the imperfections of others and can admire the
other person's good qualities.

The moral of the story is

Just learn to live with the Pricks in your life.

WOW

Thank You God

Today I am thankful..........

Thank you God for the garden you gave me when all I asked for was a flower.

Thank you God for the ocean, when all I asked for was some rain.

Thank you God for the beauty you have created, when all I asked for was to see.

Thank you God for the multitude of friends in my life, when all I asked for was love.

Thank you God for all that I have received from you and most of all, that I know I am never alone, for You are always here beside me.

Thank you God for giving your son to forgive us of our sins.

I love you God and am not afraid to share this with the world and spread your word.

Amen

FROM UCB WORD FOR DAY

Seeing the Big Picture

'He performs what is appointed for me...' Job 23:14 NKJV

Sometimes God permits things, other times He actually plans them. Either way, He's got a definite plan in mind. In the midst of unspeakable heartache, Job said, 'He performs what is appointed for me.' When you realise that God has 'appointed' something for you, it changes how you see it. It's like flying. On the ground your view is limited, but 3000 metres up everything looks different. Now you're seeing what God sees: 'the big picture'! The Bible says that after Job came through his trials he was blessed with twice as much as he had before (Job 42:10). Does that mean if you lose a $50 000-a-year job you'll get back a $100 000-a-year one? Or that your chequebook will always balance, or your car never break down, or your health never fail? No, sometimes God rewards our faith with things we can't measure in monetary value-such as relationships, joy, character, peace you didn't have before, a fresh sense of purpose, protection from danger, favour with others, a clearer understanding, more compassion, and intimacy with Him. What value would you place on those? Here are three things you need to keep in mind at all times. First, God wants you to trust Him in whatever you're going through (Psalm 138:8). Secondly, when it's your responsibility, God expects you to fulfil it (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Thirdly, in order to bless you, He will sometimes move in ways that are hard to understand or explain (Ecclesiastes 11:5). Why? So that when the answer comes there'll be no doubt about Who should get the credit.

My little friend Sophie.....

God's Plan

from UCB WORD FOR TODAY

God's Customised Plan for Your Life

'...to will and to act according to His good purpose.' Philippians 2:13 NIV

God is committed to His plan for your life, not yours! You can't say, 'Lord, here's my plan; bless it.' He may, but He may not. '...He...created us...so we can do the good things He planned for us...' (Ephesians 2:10 NLT) You can't say, 'In this category I'm doing things my way, but in that category I'm being led by God.' No, every step you take must be synchronised by the beat of the Holy Spirit. Nothing should be more important to you than keeping pace with Him. Paul writes, 'For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His...purpose.' (Philippians 2:13 NIV) God works through you as you open your spirit, engage your mind, and use your talents to do what He's already put into your heart. The moment you say yes, He gives you the power to perform His will. Notice, He doesn't reveal His will, then call you. No, He calls you, and as you step out and obey Him He reveals His will to you step by step. Each day God is moulding you into a greater likeness of His Son. That's His objective. You're not out for a stroll, you're going somewhere! Over and over again you'll be put into situations that mature you to the point where you have the same attitude, the same perspective, the same responses, and the same discernment as Jesus. Once you understand that, walking with God will take on a whole new meaning. You'll realise that His custom plan for your life is the only plan that will ever satisfy you.

Inspirational Short Story

We Live By Faith.....

A man's daughter had asked the local minister to come and pray with her father. When the minister arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head propped up on two pillows. An empty chair sat beside his bed.

The minister assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit. "I guess you were expecting me," he said. "No, who are you?" said the father. "I'm the new minister at your church," he replied. "When I saw the empty chair, I figured you knew I was going to show up." "Oh yeah, the chair," said the bedridden man. "Would you mind closing the door?"

Puzzled, the minister shut the door. "I have never told anyone this, not even my daughter," said the man. "But all of my life I have never known how to pray. At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer, but it went right over my head." "I abandoned any attempt at prayer," the old man continued, "until one day about four years ago my best friend said to me, "Joe, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus. Here is what I suggest. Sit down in a chair; place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith see Jesus on the chair. It's not spooky because he promised, "I'll be with you always." Then just speak to him in the same way you're doing with me right now."

So, I tried it and I've liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours every day. I'm careful though. If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair, she'd either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm."

The minister was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the old man to continue on the journey. Then he prayed with him, anointed him with oil, and returned to the church. Two nights later the daughter called to tell the minister that her daddy had died that afternoon.

"Did he die in peace?" he asked. "Yes, when I left the house about two o' clock, he called me over to his bedside, told me he loved me and kissed me on the cheek. When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him dead. But there was something strange about his death. Apparently, just before Daddy died, he leaned over and rested his head on the chair beside the bed. What do you make of that?" The minister wiped a tear from his eye and said, "I wish we could all go like that."

We live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

A Thought for Today

"I don't pray for God to take my problems away, I pray only for God to give me the strength to go through them."
Seven Better Questions You Can Ask in the Midst of Adversity

I have several friends who are going through enormous uncertainty right now. Some are out of work. A few others are on the precipice of divorce. Still others have been diagnosed with cancer—one who is pregnant. In these situations, most of us ask, “Why is this happening to me?”

Years ago, two months after I became the publisher of one of our book divisions, we lost a major author to a competing company. This had a significant negative impact on our bottom line. At first, I was angry. Then I became discouraged. Finally, I realized I was asking the wrong question.
Instead of asking “Why did this happen?” I started asking, “How can this make us better?” Immediately, I sensed a shift in my spirit. It began energizing me. In retrospect, losing the author was one of the best things that could have happened to my division. We grew from the experience in ways that would have never happened otherwise.
I learned a valuable lesson: the answers we get are often determined by the questions we ask. If we ask bad questions, we will get bad answers. If we ask better questions—empowering questions—we will get better answers.

If you are going through a difficult, uncertain time, here are seven better questions you can ask yourself :

What if this isn’t the end but a new beginning?

What if the answer to my prayer is just over the next hill?

What if this is necessary in order for me to be prepared for the next important chapter in my life?

What if God knows exactly what I need at this particular time?

What if God is speaking to me through means I would not have chosen for a blessing I cannot see?

What does this experience make possible?

What will I be telling my grandchildren that I learned was so valuable in this season of my life?

When I say..." I am a Christian"

When I say..." I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I am saved"
I'm whispering "I get lost"
"That is why I chose this way"

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need someone to be my guide

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong
I'm professing that I'm weak
and pray for strength to carry on

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success
I'm admitting I have failed
and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
my flaws are all too visible
but God believes I'm worth it

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartaches
which is why I seek His name

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I do not wish to judge
I have no authority
I only know I'm loved.

A Verse For Today

Proverbs 13:12

”When dreams come true at last, there is life and joy.”

Dream big dreams.

God has great things in stored for us, and often times, many of our dreams are in fact, His dreams for us as well. He not only shares our excitement for the future, but laid out plans to help us succeed as well.

God wants us to prosper in all we do and has held these dreams in His heart ever since before we were born. He is as eager to see them become a reality as much as – if not more than – we do.

Therefore, let us trust in God and allow Him to fulfill His plans and dreams for our lives. He has already laid down a path for us and all we have to do is to trust and follow our Good Shepherd in this journey of life.

A Quote For Today

“I think that you find your own way. You have your own rules. You have your own understanding of yourself, and that’s what you’re going to count on. In the end, it’s what feels right to you. Inspirational Short Story

Shake It Off And Step Up
A parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule. The mule fell into the farmer's well. The farmer heard the mule 'braying' - or - whatever mules do when they fall into wells. After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Instead, he called his neighbours together and told them what had happened...and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.

Initially, the old mule was hysterical! But as the farmer and his neighbours continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back...a thought struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back...HE SHOULD SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP! This he did, blow after blow.

"Shake it off and step up...shake it off and step up...shake it off and step up!" he repeated to encourage himself. No matter how painful the blows, or distressing the situation seemed the old mule fought "panic" and just kept right on SHAKING IT OFF AND STEPPING UP!

You're right! It wasn't long before the old mule, battered and exhausted, STEPPED TRIUMPHANTLY OVER THE WALL OF THAT WELL! What seemed like it would bury him, actually blessed him...all because of the manner in which he handled his adversity.

THAT'S LIFE! If we face our problems and respond to them positively, and refuse to give in to panic, bitterness, or self-pity...THE ADVERSITIES THAT COME ALONG TO BURY US USUALLY HAVE WITHIN THEM THE POTENTIAL TO BENEFIT AND BLESS US! Remember that FORGIVENESS--FAITH--PRAYER-- PRAISE and HOPE...all are excellent ways to "SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP" out of the wells in which we find ourselves!

Psalm 145:18-19
The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.
